Roisin & Daniel’s Real Wedding

“When paths are meant to cross, the universe has a way of making it happen.”

Work brought them together, life took them around the world, and their wedding brought it all back to Carlow for a celebration close to home and heart.

Danny & Roisin met unexpectedly at a work conference in Chicago of 2016. Danny is English working in Fort Lauderdale and Roisin is Irish working in New York… but it wasn’t until a year later when the pair were both leaving a party of a mutual coworker when they decided to get to know each other!

Fast forward to October 2021, overlooking a magical sunrise in Cancun, Mexico, Danny popped the question and to no surprise, Roisin said yes.

Over the coming months, the wedding planning was underway. However, with Roisin working in America, living in the UK and getting married in Ireland, she was constantly checking the time zones when speaking with the Irish suppliers and vendors, as well as Whatsapp wedding planning groups, but with the help of her brother and sister-in-law who were also getting married six months before them, they were not short of helpful tips.

Despite working in the US and marrying an Englishman, Roisin knew she would always have her special day at home, “I’m a homebird at heart, and Danny always knew that about me” The pair married in Ballinabranna Church with the reception in the Woodford Dolmen Hotel, Carlow.

The hotel was a no brainer for Roisin, having attended multiple weddings there in the past, she was blown away with the service as a guest, and believes that as a bride and groom, all you want is for your guests to be happy! “The staff go above and beyond to create an experience and atmosphere that is unmatched” The Woodford Dolmen is known for its excellent service and staff. The hotel is sat on the river barrow with over 10 acres of land looking the Kileshin Hills.

Various suppliers helped make their special day happen. The wedding dress was from Naomi Bridal in the UK, “It’s exactly what I wanted… I would wear it every day if I could”, whilst Obsession Bridal and Mac’s menswear in Carlow dressed the bridesmaids and groomsmen. Catherine Nolan from Stockholm Hair and Beauty and Heather Minchin MUA worked their magic on the bride and bridal party from the early hours of the wedding day morning. Carlow Florists created the fabulous bouquets and buttonholes. A Little Slice of Heaven supplied the cheese and cracker grazing table for the arrival reception at the hotel and Paul from Real Grand Events kept the kids entertained as the fantastic magician. They also had singing waiters from Singers Secreto, adding excitement during the meal. With music from the Suite who were both the band and DJ.

Roisin & Daniel on their wedding day

Their fabulous photos were captured by Tyron Ross Photography

Roisin and Danny had the most amazing day, “We were on cloud nine all day” so picking one of their favourite moments of the day is tough, however if they had to pick one it would be the stolen 10 minutes with the photographer, where he captured beautiful night time photos of the happy couple. “We just love those photos, and it gave us 10 minutes to ourselves to chat about the day”.

One piece of advice from the happy couple, “Don’t sweat the small stuff! When (not if!) something goes wrong on the day, or something is off ‘schedule’ or not exactly how you planned it, don’t worry about it… laugh it off and get on with your day, chances are your guests won’t even notice! And also, be the last ones to go to bed!!! You only get 24 hours, enjoy and soak it all in… you don’t want to get up the next day and hear guests talk about something funny that happened after you went to bed!!”
