Woodford Island
Take a trip to our tranquil island

Discover Woodford Island

Welcome to Woodford Island, a peaceful natural retreat along the banks of the River Barrow, set within the Woodford Dolmen Hotel’s 10 acres of lush gardens. Based at the end of the hotels gardens, the island offers a wonderful place to explore, slow down and reconnect with the outdoors.

Follow the pathway through the gardens and cross the distinctive red bridge into the island.  While wandering along the winding woodland trails, you will be surrounded by mature trees, rich greenery and seasonal flowers, accompanied by the gentle sound of the river and the sound of birdsong.

Two tranquil woodland glades provide a peaceful setting designated for a forest bathing experience.  This is the Japanese practice of immersing yourself in nature and connecting with your senses.  Surrounded by the sights, sounds and scents of nature, visitors can simply relax and appreciate the natural beauty of the area, while experiencing the calming benefits of forest bathing.

The island is ideal for a leisurely walk, a family nature adventure or a peaceful moment away from the pace of everyday life. A number of seating areas & a dedicated picnic area offer quiet places to pause and embrace the River Barrow & Killeshin Hills views.

AND SO MUCH MORE TO OFFER!!!
