Choosing Your Wedding Venue
Posted on 07 September 2018
Choosing your wedding venue can seem like a very daunting task. It really doesn't have to be. As a wedding coordinator, I always advise bride and grooms-to-be to arrive with some ideas of what they think they would like their wedding day to be. This allows me, as the wedding coordinator, to tailor the information and not to overwhelm the couple. You don’t need to have a complete visualisation of the day you want but there are a few essentials that are important to know before you start looking or visit a venue. Here are some helpful hints and tips:
A good starting point you should think back to weddings you have attended and the venue they chose. Did you love the location, or were you blown away by the service? This may be the perfect place to begin your search.
Do you have a specific date in mind, if so you will need to check if that date is available.> If not, if you want a certain time of year you will also need to check what’s available. We currently have Weddings booked as far out as 2021 for weekend dates.
Number of Guests
Will the venue have the capacity to take your numbers or does the venue have a minimum number of guests and your numbers are less? You will need to ask what this means for you. Knowing your numbers is also the basis of the quote process; the venue can’t let you know the full cost unless you can give them an indication of your numbers. You will need to discuss how many guests rooms the hotel has and will they be able to accommodate your guests.
This is probably the most important factor when looking at Wedding venues. Once you have an idea of what you feel you are willing to spend per head on the meal, that would be a good starting point.
Here at the
Woodford Dolmen Hotel we have four wedding packages available to all our couples. All our packages will see your Wedding Reception room dressed, candelabra for table centres, mood lighting to incorporate your colour scheme, arrival reception for your guests. With each package
, you are being offered more extras like our Sapphire Bell package which is an all-inclusive package. This includes Vintage Car, DJ,
meal and so much more. At our first meeting on finding out our
, I will discuss the best package for you.
If your reception is in a different place from your ceremony, consider the distance between the two and consider the time it will take both you and your guests to travel it. Generally speaking, you don’t want to travel much more than an hour between the two.
A very popular choice for today’s brides and grooms is the civil ceremony. Check and see if you can host your ceremony within the venue or its grounds, this would save your guests from travelling to multiple locations. It also gives you a nicer option than the registry office. We have 3 Civil Ceremony suites available to you depending on how many guests will be attending. This summer due to the stunning weather we were delighted to have our busiest year with outdoor Civil Ceremonies on our veranda off the Killeshin Suite. You could not ask for a more romantic setting to say I Do.
One Wedding per Day
Are you the bride that has been dreaming about their wedding day since they were a little girl. This is a very important factor for you if so. We pride ourselves on being a One Wedding per Day venue. Your Wedding day becomes our Special day.
Pretty as a picture: What outdoor photo opportunities does your favourite venue have? If they have splendid gardens they will be perfect but if not, are there any locations near-by that you could travel to? Alternatively, how light and airy is the interior spaces, just in case of rain!
Bar Extension: So, us Irish like to go old party and what better event than a Wedding. I am delighted to say a bar extension is included in all our Wedding packages.
These are just a couple of points to think about before meeting a Wedding Coordinator at a venue. Trust me I have had couples arrive full of ideas and leave with a completely different Wedding Day planned. I pride myself on making Your Wedding day different and ensuring that all our Wedding’s are personal to each couple. The greatest compliment in my job is meeting a couple the day after their Wedding and being thanked for making their day so special.
