Whether you’re a serious rambler or you just like to stretch your legs and enjoy the view, Carlow is a brilliant county to explore by foot. From the River Barrow running through our own gardens, to the Killeshin hills surrounding us, there are plenty of places either for a lazy stroll or for the avid trekker and hillwalker.

Walking trails in Carlow include The Barrow Way, Killbrannish Forest Loop, Oak Park Forest, Carlow Town Walk and The South Leinster Way – this one is not for the faint-hearted as it’s 132Km long! (That’s a little over 82 miles to you and me)

The annual Carlow Autumn Walking Festival takes place early October. Combining the challenges of the Carlow Mountains with the peace and tranquillity of quiet country routes in the company of local guides and fellow walkers… A wonderful autumn weekend break.

Walking route maps & information are available complimentary from the hotel and our experienced local staff are always on hand to help you on your way.

Rest the tired feet and refuel in the relaxed & friendly surroundings of our Woodford Dolmen Bar or Plum Tree Bistro after a days trekking on the Carlow walking routes.
