Ploughing Championships

The first public meeting took place this month to discuss the huge undertaking of organising this year’s National Ploughing Championship, which takes place in Balintrance, Fenagh from the 17th to 19th September. It is expected that up to 300,000 visitors will journey to Carlow, resulting in a substantial economic benefit for the town, not to mention the huge media attention it will also bring. It’s a great and exciting opportunity for local involvement as work on-site begins in mid-July.

Valentine’s Day

If you’re looking to for a Valentine’s gift that’s a little different, then why not buy a season membership ticket, (€35) for the Visual Fortnightly Cinema Club. St. Patricks Day

Carlow town is planning a fantastic two-day festival to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th March, which will be based at the town hall with plans for a bouncy castle, a funfair, food village, live music, street entertainment, walking groups, and a spectacular parade. If you are interested in taking part in the parade then please email carlowparade@gmail.com to find out how you can take part.
